Re: Proposed Tax Increase

Cache County is proposing a 28.5% increase over the certified property tax rate. This tax increase was approved last December, and state law requires counties that are increasing property taxes to conduct Truth-in-Taxation hearings in December and in August. The impact of the proposed tax increase is as follows:

Annual Impact of Proposed Cache County Tax Increase
Property   $150,000 Valuation   $300,000 Valuation
Residence*   $41.33 increase   $82.66 increase
 Business   $75.15 increase   $150.30 increase
* Residences receive a 45% exemption under state law. Business properties receive no exemptions.

A Truth-in-Taxation hearing will be held on Tuesday, August 12th, 2003 at 6:00 pm at 179 N. Main in Logan.
