Your Taxpayers Association has studied the proposal and met with district officials to discuss the building needs of the district. Residents of the district, who know the condition of existing buildings and the need for new buildings, should weigh that knowledge in light of the tax increases being proposed.
With the resurgence of oil & gas activity in the district and potential for growth in the tax base these tax impacts may actually be lower. However, since there is no way of knowing for sure what kind of enrollment growth the district will experience as a result of the expansion of oil & gas activity, it is unclear whether other new classroom space will be required in the next few years.
